Two Pitchers Team Up As Reeths-Puffer Rockets Varsity Defeats Whitehall In Shut-Out
Reeths-Puffer Rockets Varsity defeated Whitehall 7-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Ashlyn Gonzalez induced a groundout from C Huebler to finish off the game.
Reeths-Puffer Rockets Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning. Brooklynn Duffey singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Reeths-Puffer Rockets Varsity notched three runs in the second inning. Abigayle Michelson, Makenna Johnson, and MaKayla Thompson all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
A single by M Bond in the first inning was a positive for Whitehall.
Thompson got the win for Reeths-Puffer Rockets Varsity. She surrendered zero runs on four hits over four innings, striking out eight and walking zero. Gonzalez threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
A Shafer took the loss for Whitehall. She allowed 14 hits and seven runs over four and two-thirds innings, walking zero.
Reeths-Puffer Rockets Varsity tallied 14 hits on the day. Duffey, Michelson, Thompson, and Sydney Edwards each collected multiple hits for Reeths-Puffer Rockets Varsity. Michelson and Duffey each managed three hits to lead Reeths-Puffer Rockets Varsity. Reeths-Puffer Rockets Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Duffey made the most plays with 12.
Bond went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Whitehall in hits.
