Game Recap

Reeths-Puffer rallied after a slow start, roaring past the visiting Bulldogs of Byron Center for a 15-5 First-Round Regional win. Dylan Griffin scored a game-high 6 goals and assisted on 3 others to pace R-P (15-4).
Before R-P got things going, Byron Center took a 1-0 lead about 4 minutes into the game. The Rockets then got two goals in 18 seconds, a Logan Fredricks score off a Thomas Montgomery assist and then an unassisted blast from long-pole Brayden Blackburn. Then R-P went on a tear, outscoring the Bulldogs 10-1 in the next two quarters, including all 6 of Griffins goals.
Fredricks finished with 2 goals, 5 face-offs won, 6 groundballs and 2 forced turnovers. Josh Pfhistner scored 2 goals, Bradley Groothius had a goal and an assist, and Brenden Mansfield, Zach Massey, and Noah Morse each added a goal. Montgomery and Connor Weessies had two assists apiece and Brandon Terryn added another. Blackburn had 8 groundballs and 6 forced turnovers to lead the Rocket D. Garrett Reames owned the midfield X, winning 9 of 12 face offs as well as gathering 4 groundballs.
Ethan Medema had 2 saves in the first three quarters in net and Dakota Howell had one in the fourth quarter.
Reeths-Puffer moves on the the Regional Semifinal next Thursday, facing Holland Christian at Forest Hills Central High School at 5 p.m.
